Silk Worm Experiment

In 1868, silk worm eggs were imported to Salt Lake City from France. President Brigham Young at once became deeply interested and called the Saints to raise mulberry trees, the leaves of which are used to feed the worms, and a large number of trees were planted in Mount Pleasant. As they grew, many women became involved in the silk producing enterprise and after a time, cocoons were delivered by them in Salt Lake City.
