Just a couple of the photos that my son, Jon Hafen has taken that have found favor with citizens of Mt. Pleasant.

STEVE JOBS, THE CEO OF APPLE, DIED A BILLIONAIRE. ~~~ submitted by Larry Staker

Jobs unveiling the iPhone 4 in 2010

HERE ARE SOME OF HIS LAST THOUGHTS AND WORDS:

"I REACHED THE PINNACLE OF SUCCESS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD.  IN
OTHERS EYES, MY LIFE IS THE EPITOME OF SUCCESS.  HOWEVER, ASIDE FROM
WORK, I HAVE LITTLE JOY.  IN THE END, WEALTH IS ONLY A FACT OF LIFE
THAT I HAVE BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO.  AT THIS MOMENT, I AM ON MY SICK
BED, AND RECALLING MY LIFE.  I REALIZE THAT ALL OF THE RECOGNITION
AND WEALTH IN WHICH I TOOK SO MUCH PRIDE, HAVE BECOME MEANINGLESS IN
THE FACE OF MY IMPENDING DEATH.

YOU CAN EMPLOY SOMEONE TO DRIVE A CAR FOR YOU, AND TO MAKE MONEY FOR
YOU, BUT YOU CANNOT EMPLOY ANYONE TO BEAR ILLNESS FOR YOU.  MATERIAL
THINGS, WHEN LOST, CAN BE FOUND, BUT THE ONE THING, THAT CAN NEVER BE
FOUND WHEN IT IS LOST, IS YOUR HEALTH AND EVENTUALLY YOUR LIFE ITSELF.
WHEN A PERSON GOES INTO THE OPERATING ROOM, HE REALIZES THAT THERE IS
ONE BOOK THAT HE HAS YET TO FINISH READING, "THE BOOK OF HEALTHY
LIFE".

WHATEVER STAGE IN LIFE WE ARE AT CURRENTLY, IN TIME WE ALL FACE THAT
DAY WHEN THE CURTAIN COMES DOWN.

TREASURE LOVE FOR YOUR FAMILY, LOVE FOR YOUR SPOUSE AND LOVE FOR YOUR
FRIENDS.  TREAT YOURSELF WELL, AND CHERISH OTHERS.

AS WE GROW OLDER, AND HOPEFULLY WISER, WE SLOWLY REALIZE THAT WEARING
A $3,000.00 OR A $30.00 WATCH IS NOT IMPORTANT.  THE TIME IS THE
SAME.  WHETHER WE CARRY A $300.00 OR $30.00 WALLET/HANDBAG, THE
CONTENTS ARE THE SAME.  WHETHER WE DRINK A BOTTLE OF $100 OR $10
WINE, THE HANGOVER IS THE SAME.  WHETHER THE HOUSE WE LIVE IN IS 300
OR 3,000 SQ. FT., THE LONELINESS IS THE SAME.  WHETHER YOU FLY FIRST
CLASS OR ECONOMY, IF THE PLANE GOES DOWN, YOU GO DOWN WITH IT.

YOU WILL COME TO REALIZE THAT TRUE INNER HAPPINESS DOES NOT COME FROM
THE MATERIAL THINGS OF THIS WORLD.

THEREFORE, TREASURE YOUR BUDDIES, OLD FRIENDS, BROTHERS AND
SISTERS.
CHAT OFTEN, LAUGH, SING, ENJOY THEM.
TALK ABOUT NORTH-SOUTH-EAST-WEST, OR HEAVEN & EARTH.  THAT IS TRUE
HAPPINESS.

  OTHER THOUGHTS

SIX UNDENIABLE FACTS OF LIFE
1. DON'T EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN TO BE RICH.  EDUCATE THEM TO BE
HAPPY, SO WHEN THEY GROW UP THEY WILL KNOW THE VALUE OF THINGS, AND
NOT JUST THEIR PRICE.

2. "EAT YOUR FOOD AS YOUR MEDICINES, OTHERWISE YOU HAVE TO EAT
MEDICINES AS YOUR FOOD."

3. FIND REASONS TO HANG ON TO THE ONES YOU LOVE.

4. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HUMAN BEING AND BEING HUMAN.

5. YOU ARE LOVED WHEN YOU ARE BORN.  YOU WILL BE LOVED WHEN YOU
DIE.  IN BETWEEN, ONLY YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE.

6. IF YOU JUST WANT TO WALK FAST, THEN WALK ALONE.  HOWEVER, IF YOU
WANT TO WALK FAR, THEN WALK TOGETHER."
Doctors comments:

The medical doctors say Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer.
The nutrition doctors say Steve Jobs died because he bought into the idea that you only need fruits and vegetables to be healthy.  These doctors say it's true, fruits and vegetables clean the body and make a person feel good but a person needs some meat to help build the body, but too much meat is not good.
These nutrition doctors interviewed hundreds of centurions and asked them what they eat on a daily bases, they all confessed to eating among other things, a little meat twice a day!  There was not a single vegetarian that lived to be a centurion that they interviewed.

The spiritual doctors say:  Besides having health problems, Steve Jobs outside of work was not a happy person, as he confessed.  Here to, there's something missing.  The scriptures teach us, true happiness comes from the service to others.  Whatever you do unto others you do unto yourself.  In other words, when you make others happy by service, you make yourself  happy at the same time.  Could this be the other meat Steve lacked in his diet?
Besides everything else, we need Meat and Service to help live a longer and happier life!

Pioneer Day Celebrated in Mt. Pleasant ~~ Country Fair Theme

A good crowd celebrated Pioneer Day on St. Patrick's Day this year, March 17th.
The hall was decorated in a county fair theme with balloons and ferris wheels, making a very festive occasion for all.

Pioneer Day in Mt. Pleasant is a long standing tradition that was once headed by the officers of the L.D.S. church to honor the pioneers who settled Mt. Pleasant.
All those over 80 years old are treated to a free meal.  The traditional meal is chicken strips, potato salad, a roll  and ice cream for dessert.  This year, little hay bales were made from rice crispies and served with the ice cream.

Former residents as well as current meet to reminisce the old times in Mt. Pleasant.  A wonderful program was  also a special treat.  A fiddle group from Snow College as well as the Shepherd Family Singers entertained us in fine style.  A beautiful quilt was made and tickets sold for a chance to win.

Board members, greeters as well as everyone who wants to dress in pioneer style clothing add to the festivities.

Quilting arts, pottery, blacksmithing, woodcraft and card making lined the sides of the hall to show the many talents that members and others could share.  A bake sale was had and the Mt. Pleasant History was also on sale.

It was March of 1859 when the pioneers of Mt. Pleasant settled here and our Pioneer Day festivities still honor our beloved pioneers over 150 years since.

Check back tomorrow for more photos.  If you weren't able to come you'll enjoy the photos of many that did.
