THE SYNOPSIS OF THE THIRTY SIXTH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF THE MT. PLEASANT PIONEER HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION

This Synopsis was read at the thirty sixth Annual Celebration of the

 Mt. Pleasant Pioneer Historical Association.

Exercises held in Mt. Pleasant North Ward Chapel

James Larsen presided.

Guests of Honor seated on the stand:

Oldest Lady:  Mrs Mary Willcox aged 95 years 9 months (a pioneer of Utah 1847, a pioneer of Hambleton in 1852, and Mt. Pleasant in 1860)

Oldest Man:  Rudolph N. Bennett age 83 years and 5 months (a pioneer of 1859 the only man still living whose name is on the Pioneer Monument.

The program:

Selection: North Sanpete High School Band led by Henry Terry

Prayer:  R. N. Bennett (a beautiful impressive prayer)

Vocal Solo with orchestra accompaniment:  "Calm is the Night" by Wilma Hafen

Talk:  James Monsen "Caring for our relics" (made in the Danish language and interpreted by C. W. Sorensen.

He extended thanks of the Association to J.H. Stansfield, a Norman, Amelia Jensen and Hilda Longsdorf for the part played by them in reconstructing the Fort Wall in miniature for the Association.

A paper prepared by Mrs Melvina Crane "Fun in the Good Old Days" was read by her.

A paper "Memories of Freighting Days" was read by N.S. Nielson.

Address:  Judge Ferdinand Ericksen of Salt Lake City.  Judge Ericksen was a former member of the Board of Directors and the Treasurer during construction of the Pioneer Monument.  He also read a sketch of schools as he knew them to 1890.

Vocal Solo:  Floyd Young of Fairview with piano accompaniment by Ernest Staker

Talks:  Dr. Samuel H. Allen and Amasa Aldrich both former residents; now of Salt Lake.  The spoke reminiscently of school days, dance days, and wash days, etc. in Mt. Pleasant.  (Dr. Allen died the following September)

Overture:  North Sanpete High School Orchestra 

Benediction:  Pres. S. M. Nielsen of North Sanpete Stake

The meeting adjourned to Mt. Pleasant Carnegie Library where relics were displayed and old-time refreshments served.

The days activities were concluded by a dance in the Hansen Armory Hall where the receipts of the dance were $77.50, expenses were $71.70 with cookies donated by member of the committee.

Dee A Rosenlof

11/29/1953 ~ 10/05/2021

Dee Alonzo Rosenlof, 67, returned home to his Heavenly Father and loved ones, October 5, 2021.  He was born to Alonzo and Norda Rosenlof November 29, 1953.  He married his sweetheart, Susan Terry, August 20, 1976, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.  Together they had 3 children and created a life they loved. 

Dee loved to be in the mountains, camping was his all-time favorite thing.  He enjoyed going with the entire family, and spending quality time with just Susan. 

Dee was a gentle giant, and had a very tender, loving heart.  He cherished his family and found so much joy in his children and grandchildren.

Dee had a passion for his work that was unmatched.  He had such a strong work ethic, and truly cared about his job and the people he served and worked with.  His cement truck was cleaner and more immaculate than ANY truck on site- you might say it was cleaner than a new one!  He received an award from NRMCA while working for Westroc for a finalist Driver of The Year after having an impeccable 28 years of driving, without even a traffic citation. 

Dee enjoyed working with his hands and was also very handy.  He prided himself on being able to fix, build, or figure out how to do just about anything.

He was very good at taking care of everything that he had, and you knew if Dee owned it, it was in mint condition.

Dee has always had a strong passion for anything with a motor, and recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, his children Jennifer Herring, Mount Pleasant, Mindy (Heath) Poulson, Fairview, Cory (Lacey) Rosenlof, Mount Pleasant.  Siblings, Doris (Paul) Garlick, Kent (Holly) Rosenlof.  Aunt Janet (Fred) Matthews.  13 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Norda Rosenlof.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dee’s life at the Mount Pleasant Utah North Stake Center (461 N 300 W, Mount Pleasant) October 13, 2021, at 11 a.m.  Viewings will be held Tuesday evening October 12 from 6-8 PM, and October 13 from 9:30-10:30 AM, both at the Mount Pleasant North Stake Center.  Interment will be at the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.

Juanita Hill Miramonte, Class of 65 , North Sanpete High School

Juanita Hill Miramontes, 73, Mt. Pleasant, Utah completed her earthly journey and was called home to her Heavenly Father on January 22, 2021, after a courageous 8 year battle with kidney disease. She passed in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah on September 9, 1947, to Enoch Leander Hill and Annie (Terkelson) Hill Atwood. She was the youngest of 7 children and was always babied by her older siblings. Her younger years were spent playing paper dolls and hot wheel cars. She learned the value of hard work by helping take care of the family animals. She graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from Cosmetology school. She worked at the Moroni Processing plant for over 40 years. It was there that she met her sweetheart, Raul Miramontes. 

They were married on May 7, 1976, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on September 9, 1997. Together they raised their family with dedication and love. Her greatest love was her family. She always put the needs and wants of her family above her own. She loved to support her grandchildren and was often seen at their ball games. She always had a crochet hook or an embroidery needle in her hand. She made such beautiful blankets, pillowcases, and dish towels. She went through a lot but she never complained and she always kept her faith in Jesus Christ. She was loved by all and will be missed sorely by many.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Sisters: Norma (Wahlin) and Annalee (Jensen); Brothers: Jim Hill and Dave Hill; Son-in-law, Jay Danner, and Grandson Brooks Miramontes. She is survived by her husband: Raul Miramontes; Children: David (Sabrina) Hill of Myrtle Creek, OR; Gary (Mary) Hill of Blythesville, AR; Tony (Jana) Miramontes of Delta, CO; Smokey Miramontes, Ana Danner and Scarlet (Roland) Terry all of Mt. Pleasant, UT and 11 grandchildren: Andrew, Devin, Makyla, Caleb, Eli, Rhett, Bodey, Tyler Jo, Xavier, Anastasia, and Jaxon.

A limited funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Mt. Pleasant Utah North Stake building (500 N 300 W, Mt. Pleasant) at 11:00 AM,
