She was born June 5, 1937 in Salt Lake City to William and Sena Nielson and was raised in Ephraim. She attended Snow High in Ephraim. She met her sweetheart, Evan Philip Johnson, on a blind date. They were married on August 11, 1955, and were later sealed in the Manti Temple on April 16, 1966.

She has painted many inspiring paintings in oil, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. Her artwork is displayed in many homes and museums all over Utah.
Sandra was very talented in many areas, there wasn’t anything she could not do. She loved the beauty of earth, and became an avid gardener. This showed in her immaculate yard that is admired by many people in the community.
Sandra loved her family. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great grands perform. Her happiest times were with her family. She wanted to live long enough to see her great-great grandchild, but was not able to. She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Say Saints. This feed stable still stands and is located west of Wheeler's Drive In..., It is said to be where the National Guard Calvary housed their horses .
