From Our Archives ~ Three Unknown Homes
Three Unknown Homes ~ Unknown Locations
Your Help would be appreciated !!!

Update:
The home with eleven people standing in front with the white pointed trim on the front windows and door was taken in 1878 or 1879. It is the home of William and Ellen Grames Lake (My great grand parents)The people are my grandparents and the small girl in front of her mother is my grand mother Rosie Lake. Rosie was born in Mt. Pleasant and married Herbert Farnworth the son of George Farnworth. George Farnworth was one of several original families who were sent by Brigham Young to establish Mt. Pleasant.

My name is Richard Jackson and you have posted a home on the Mt Pleasant Museum web site which I have identified as the one my Grandmother Rosie Lake Farnworth was born in. It belonged to my great grand parents William Lake and Ellen Grames Lake. It is located in Mt. Pleasant and I have attached two pictures of it. The top one is the one our family took in 1966 and the bottom one is the one you posted on your web site. It appears as though my 1966 picture reveals some remodeling on the home over the years. The family in front of the home is that of my great grandparents William and Ellen Grames Lake taken about 1878 or 1879. If you happen to have a high resolution picture of this, I would love to have it so I can print a larger picture with out the graininess.
Thank you so much for posting this picture!

Female Relief Society September 30, 1878
Meeting held September 30, 1878
Opened with singing "Come Let Us Renew, Our Journey Pursue"
Prayer by Sister Peel
Sister Peel addressed the Sisters and said that she learned that Sister Morrison was called out to attend the Lake's Child that was dead.
Minutes from the former meeting were read and accepted; also donations and disbursements were read out.
Sister Peel felt to have a short meeting as only a few sisters had attended she herself felt not spirit well; said that she was always glad to hear the Report; that we were able to do something for the poor and if there was lacking something in the Society that she could help out with fast offering that was kept at her house. She always felt to go to meeting and hoped the Sisters would take more interest in coming to meeting after this.
She bore her testimony, said that she always liked to do the best she can and had that feeling ever since she joined this church. She never went to a Sister Meeting yet before she prayed to the Lord in secret.
Sister Simpson felt like to bear her testimony, spoke in regard to the poor; said she liked to fill the orders and give them what they needed; said there was plenty of flour in the store but nothing else.
And wished the sisters would remember when they had a little butter or a little meat to spare, there was nothing of that kind in the........ She prayed the Lord would bless Sister Morrison and her councilors and the Twelve Apostles and every home of the members of the church and Kingdom, Amen
Sister Franzen felt to bear her testimony to this great Latter Day Work; felt greatly blessed that the gospel was brought to her native country and could have the principles embraced there. That we are to think of this great blessing a little more and think of ourselves that what is required of us a little more and should think of our duty that was required of us a little more. Hoped that the sisters would come more to meeting in the future so that we could see and hear and thinking in all the prayers of our Society; also the poor should appreciate what the Society was ...ing for them.
Many of the Sisters bore their testimony and a good spirit prevailed.
Meeting was closed with singing and prayer by Sister Frandsen.

Female Relief Society September 12, 1878

Meeting held September 12th 1878
Opened with singing "Oh My Father, Thou that Dwellest".
Prayer by Sister Hasler
Sister Morrison addressed the Sisters and felt glad to be able to meet with the Sisters again, said that she was kept away from meeting last time on account of attending to a dead person but her faith and mind was with the sisters. .............She said that many cases of harsh sickness was among us and urged the sisters to sustain all with their faith and prayers that they may be restored to health again, especially, Sister Lake that was.........for spirit a time we should remember her in our prayers every day that she might be a comfort and help for her family, like she has always been.
A good many other good instruction were given in regard to our children and other principles of the Gospel; and hoped that the sisters would attend meetings more regularly........business is over.
Sister Madsen rose and was very glad to meet with the Sisters after being absent for a while,........said she was tempted to resign her office of Counselor, but thought she was in ...........every time when the thought like that came in her mind, ........feeling it was a duty for everyone to do what they can for the building up this......anyhow........ Her prayer that we may.........for good reason.
The business was attended to. Sister G.....Frandsen and Sister M.......were appointed as teachers in the North Ward and Sister Tidwell and Sister ?Larsen in the South Ward. These teachers should keep a book to account for all the donations that are given to them and also the Temple.donations with the names of every sister that gives, also ......... that would be made in each Ward........... Some arrangements were made for Sister........to go to the City to get her endowments. Sister Morrison offered to see to her widows.................. to go through the house .......Sister Josephine.......for her.
Sister Hafen, Sister Fechser and Sister Fowles gave a......., as a temple donation made by them.
The meeting was dismissed with singing, "How Firm A Foundation"; and prayer given by Sister Johnson.

Thank you so much Tudy,
This is now a cherished
treasure to our family. You may not know but the mother here (Ellen Grames
Lake) died shortly after this picture was taken and none of us have ever had an
actual photograph of her, only a painting. We will be forever grateful for you work on these pictures!
Rich
Note: Tudy Standlee has found a way to scan these glass plate negatives and effectively bring them into clearer focus better than we were ever able to do it before.
