Excerpts From Andrew Madsen's Journal

A child is born to Andrew and his wife, one of the first born in Mt. Pleasant.  Corrals were built for the cattle near the fort.  Bishop Seely and his counselors organize quorums of the priesthood.  Wheat was taken to Payson to be milled.  Orson Hyde visits Mt. Pleasant. A small meeting house which was used as a school is built inside the fort.  A chopping mill is built  on the Peel lot by the creek.  In the Spring, farming began.  A thrashing machine built by Abraham Day.  A Saw Mill was built.  A flour mill is erected.  Andrew's new baby dies.
