EMPOWERING UTAHNS TO IMPROVE THEIR COMMUNITIES
THROUGH ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT IN THE HUMANITIES

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO

CREATE SOME MOMENTS

#VirtualCampfire

OUR RESPONSE TO SOCIAL DISTANCING IS NOT ISOLATION,
BUT RATHER,AN ANCIENT RITUAL WITH THIS MODERN INTERPRETATION:
A VIRTUAL CAMPFIRE

While we are physically distant, we do not have to be socially distant. We can find creative, meaningful ways to connect. We can support each other in deeply healing ways. We can be resourceful, creative, and brave.

We can be wells in the desert.

In Pandemic, her poem that went viral, Rev. Dr. Lynn Ungar describes our never-ending relationship with each other. Here is an excerpt:

And when your body has become still,
reach out with your heart.
Know that we are connected
in ways that are terrifying and beautiful.
(You could hardly deny it now.)
Know that our lives
are in one another's hands.
(Surely, that has come clear.)
Do not reach out your hands.
Reach out your heart.
Reach out your words.
Reach out all the tendrils
of compassion that move, invisibly,
where we cannot touch
.

Let's warm each other with connection. Reach out to anyone who might feel alone, anxious, and isolated. Everyone can be a leader in this moment. Each of you can create connection and deeper answers to the fundamental questions live is demanding of us right now.
