DUP Marker Is Dedicated 1967

The foundation of the marker was replaced with a stone base and was lowered

to about 4 feet. The  clapper on the bell was welded stationary so it could not

be rung by mischevios folk.  However, during the Fourth of July Parade

a hammer from the blacksmith shop  is used to ring it in honor of the

"Honored Citizens" or "Grand Marshals".

The historical bell came from the old Hamilton School that stood south and east of the old north ward church .
It was rung at 8:00 a.m., 9: 00 a.m. at 9:00 p.m. and anytime  there was a fire.

The old North Ward Church.  It was torn down circa 1951.
