Raymond Van Leeuwen ~~~ Friend to All

 


Raymond Van Leeuwen, age 93, passed away May 18, 2022 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was born February 23, 1929 in Salt Lake City to John and Sarah Debry Van Leeuwen. Ray graduated from South High School in 1947.

As a young man, Ray worked for Utah Oil , then Bennetts Paint and Glass as a sales representative for 30 years. This is where he met Joan Selman Goudy and they were later married on October 19, 1974. They resided in West Jordan, Utah until moving to Mt. Pleasant, Utah.

Ray worked many years for Moroni Feed Company and Express Auto Parts in Mt. Pleasant, there he made many friends. In addition to working, Ray was able to do the love of his life – farming and raising many animals.

Ray was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings and loved attending the temple.

He is survived by his spouse, Joan Goudy Van Leeuwen; children, Kirk (Francie) Van Leeuwen; Spencer (Deborah) Van Leeuwen; Joel Van Leeuwen; James (Michelle) Van Leeuwen; Lori Van Leeuwen; John Goudy; Dennis (Elaine) Goudy; Merelann Sullivan; Mark (Torie) Goudy; 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gertrude Barney, Jacob Van Leeuwen, Violet McGrath, Josie Herridge, Kenneth Van Leeuwen; children Paul Van Leeuwen, Arlan Goudy; sons-in-law, Scott Sullivan, Glenn Baker, and one great-grandson Brayton Hansen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 4th Ward Chapel (49 South State Street, Mt. Pleasant, Utah). A viewing was held Sunday, May 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary (96 North 100 West, Mt. Pleasant), and Monday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. A special thanks to the nurses and many others of Intermountain Hospice.
