Request from Lee R. Christensen:
Kathy: There are many great activities from Mt Pleasant's past that are beyond my experience or memory. I'm suggesting a very few here hoping there is still someone around who could describe them to you.
1. A trip for coal with team and wagon. This was an overnight trip up narrow, scary Cottonwood canyon. The mines were not the big mines of Carbon county but little mines; I think, head of Huntington canyon. I don't know who owned them. My Grand father Christensen owned one but it was a one miner mine so was not providing coal for many people.
2. Gypsies in Mt Pleasant They visited the area ever summer and camped between Mt Pleasant and Fairview. Traded horses, told fortunes, standard story book gypsy fare. My grandfather had one horse he got from the gypies and I'm sure they left the valley smiling.
3. Paving Main street. I'm guessing about 1927 or 28.
4. Surfacing State street
5. Trailing the sheep from summer range to winter range They may still do some of that.
6. The women and girls group that went every Spring for 2 - 3 weeks to Provo Bench to pick strawberries.
7. When the women milked the cows.

These are wonderful suggestions. Maybe someone out there can provide more information of these events. The generation that took part in these events are either dead or not computer savvy.
However, they are events that were very important to that generation as well as those of us who want to document those events for future generations as well as our own. Perhaps there are histories or biographies out there that tell of these eventful times. I will continue to look, but we also need everyone to participate in that search. Are you sitting on pictures and biographies that your ancestors have written? Please Share !!!
