Andrew Madsen's Journal ~ Spring of 1863 - 1864

During the Spring a call was made for men and teams to go to Missouri after more emigrants, who would be there from foreign countries by the time they arrived.

Those called were Soren Jacobsen, Hoggan Anderson, John Josephsen, Martin Johnson, George Porter, Christian Jessen, Moroni Pratt and George Reynolds with Neils Madsen as guard.

O n October 20th, 1864 my wife gave birth to a girl and we named her Annie.  This made the fourth child in our family.

During the fall and winter there was a great deal of dancing.  Rasmus Frandsen and Perry McArthur were appointed the managers and conducted all the dances.  John Waldemar and James Hansen both played violins and furnished us the music,  they  having been our musicians since 1859.
